Green Card Lottery 2007 Starts on October 5, 2005

Despite yesterday's blog that House Committee members voted to get rid of the Green Card Lottery, this year's registration for the 2007 Green Card Lottery starts at noon (12:00 pm EST), October 5, 2005 and ends at noon (12:00 pm EST), December 4, 2005.
Registrations for the Green Card Lottery, officially known as Diversity Visa Lottery, can only be done electronically through the State Department's Web site.
New procedures for visa applicants in India

The U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulates General in Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta have announced that VFS, which is currently offering a similar service for the Mumbai consular district, will become the sole provider of visa services to all applicants for U.S. visas in India as of October 3.
New E-3 visa for Australians: DOS issues regulations

The U.S. Department of State recently published the regulations implementing the new E-3 visa for Australians. With the publication of the final rule, Australians are now able to apply for E-3 visas to work in the United States. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has not yet published its procedures for E-3 visa applications and thus, applicants who are within the United Status in any other nonimmigrant status must wait for the USCIS to issue its procedures before filing applications for change of status to E-3 visa.
