Entering the UK with almost expired passport

Does anyone know if it is permitted to enter the UK if passport with
visa is valid only for three more months?
I have UK work permit for one year, and of course I have already
applied for a new passport long time ago (and I should get it until my
current passport will expire). This will be my first entrance to the UK
ever.
