Questions for unmarried partner visa

Hi there. I originally come from Indonesia and I'm currently a full
time student in the UK. Me and my partner have been living together for
3 years now (2 years in UK and 1 year back in Australia) and we both
have been planning to get an unmarried partners visa whilst I'm
finishing my university course here, which goes for another one and
half years.

I have been reading some general information in regards to obtain the
visa but we are looking for more detailed info.

First of all, I'm not sure how detailed of information we need to prove
that we've been together for 3 years. We have plane tickets/passport
stamps to prove that we had traveled together several times, bank
statements/bills addressed for both of us to the same address (here and
in Australia) also we are going to open a joint bank account. But we
hardly take photographs. Would those details be sufficient?

I am financially supported by my family and my partner currently is
unemployed although he will look for work in near future. Financially
I'm sure that we will manage our expenses without goverment support (we
have been so far for 3 years) but the main income will be from the
family support rather than my partner's income. Will this be approprite
for showing our financial capability?

Thanks!

Unless I am missing a point here, surely the two of you can't get UPVs.
In order to get such a visa you need to be a partner of someone who is a
British Citizen, or has ILR, or at least an EEA Citizen exercising their
treaty rights in the UK.

But as both of you are non-EEA Citizens, I am struggling to see how each
of you would get a UPV.

Sorry I didn't mention that my partner is british citizen, I thought
that went without saying, perhaps it wasn't clear

Well no, and the "1 year back in Australia" made me think that your
partner is Australian. And "we both have been planning to get an
unmarried partners visa" suggested you are both wanting UPVs!

So now that is cleared up, have you read Annex Z? You can download that :-

http://tinyurl.com/9sqpf

That will give you some idea of the evidence to be produced to show that
the two of you are in the required sort of relationship. Annex Z is part
of the instructions given to IND staff dealing with instructions.

It seems to me that the bigger problem might be to pass the financial
test. It might be a better idea for the application to be delayed until
your partner has a job!

Thanks so much for the information! I also think that it is best for us
to apply when my partner is employed.

Another thing is we are not sure if we should go through an agency or
lawyer when we're ready to apply for the visa. They are just very pricy
but we would like to consult someone that can actually check if our
application and informations are adequate.
