Hi,

Just an update for anyone interested in timelines through Memphis. (I'm
restating below what was previously posted about the naturalization
interview)

My husband's naturalization interview was Monday, Oct. 24,2005 in
Memphis--it was a success! We received the oath ceremony letter today (Oct.
29). That was much faster than expected! The date scheduled is Nov. 18,
but we'll be out-of-town that week, so we're going to send the letter back
to reschedule. Will update when the new info comes.

This has all been moving much faster than anticipated! (which is great!!)
Filed through TSC in April 2005--so, if we could have kept this oath
appointment, it would have been only 7 months from start to finish.

Best of luck to all!

Sophie

Well, today was the day!! My husband had his naturalization interview in
Memphis, Tennessee. It went very well. We arrived at 10:50 for his 11:10
appointment. This was at a building called the Department of Homeland
Security on Virginia Run Cove. The security guard asked to see his
appointment letter, then after passing through the security check, we were
directed to room 121, where he had to place his appointment letter in a slot
on the wall. At about 11:08, his name was called. I was not allowed to go
in past this point. We were back in the car by 11:25 with a letter that
states " Congratulations! your application has been recommended for
approval." The man said that someone else has to make the final approval
later in the afternoon, and that we'll be notified by mail of when the oath
ceremony will take place.
The USCIS officer's name was Higman, he asked for my husband's green card
and passport, but nothing else (and driver's license-I found that out later
on--after posting this the first time). Then he went over some of the
information
on the N-400 form, asked him 10 civics questions, had him read a sentence in
English and then write "My wife is at work right now."
We were prepared with tax returns(the officer just asked if he had paid his
taxes), driving record, and all sorts of other documents, just in case, but
none were needed. Here is a list of what we originally sent:
Copy of front/back of permanent resident card
2 frontal view pictures
Check for $390
Copy of traffic citation and copy of payment

Now just waiting for the ceremony...yay!
